Child Care Resource & Referral Program (CCRR)

The webpage http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/childcare/cc_resource.htm gives information about the CCRR program. The CCRR program provides families and child care providers across BC with support, resources and referrals services. A very interesting point on this webpage is that “All CCRR programs receive culturally focused training and resources for parents and child care providers through the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society” (Ministry of Children and Family Development, 2011). I find this interesting because I believe it is very important to have people who work with families and children to have training in the cultures in the community. I also did not know about the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society, and I really enjoyed looking around on their website too.

The services CCRR provides to parents are:
  • Information on how to apply for child care subsidy.
  • Referrals to child care providers and services in the community.
  • Information related to the different types of child care available in the community.
  • Information related to parent education opportunities such as printed information and workshops.

The services CCRR provides to child care providers are:
  • Information related to how to start-up, license and operate a child care centre.
  • Training, consultation, and support visits.
  • Business information, newsletters and networking opportunities.
  • Access to the lending library, which includes things such as toys, infant/toddler equipment, and library materials.
